Mildred Judisch, 95, of Sumner, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at the Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Susan Friedrich officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery in Sumner. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made in her name to Cedar Valley Hospice, St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, American Heart or Diabetes Association, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Mildred, daughter of Carl and Clara Mohlis Warnke, was born August 10, 1918, in Bremer County, Iowa. She was baptized September 1, 1918, at St. Paul’s Church of rural Sumner and confirmed April 9, 1933, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Mildred received her education in the rural Sumner area schools. On November 26, 1936, she was united in marriage with Henry Elsamiller at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Henry’s death occurred May 10, 1983. Mildred married Reinhard Judisch on October 24, 1987. Reinhard died May 5, 1998. Mildred worked for Sumner Produce for a brief time, and was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church and WELCA. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gardening, and sewing. On her 85th birthday Mildred enjoyed a private plane ride over her farm, near Sumner.
Mildred is survived by two sons, Donald (Leonta) Elsamiller of Denver and Richard (Brenda) Elsamiller of Sumner; three daughters, LaVonne Seehase of Ames, Mardell (Eldon) Hoeper of Story City, and Karen (Allen) Fritz of Waterloo; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond (Marjorie) Warnke of Maynard; two sisters, Doretta Seehase of Oelwein and Verona Pries of Sumner, two sisters-in-law, Helen Warnke of Oelwein and Vera Warnke of Huron, South Dakota; two step-daughters, Verdeen (Melvin) Ohlendorf of Sumner and Sandra (Greg) Bartz of Oelwein; one step daughter-in-law, Elda Judisch of Sumner; and step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great great grandchildren.
In addition to her two husbands, Mildred was preceded in death by two sons, Dale and Allen; one grandson, John Darrah; two great granddaughters, Nicole and Natalie Kern; two brothers, Lester and Leo Warnke; one sister, Margaret Seehase; and one step son, Melvin Judisch.
